On June 5th, at 10:40 am, West Grove Ambulance 22-2 was dispatched to a medical emergency. While responding, Chester county 911 dispatch advised the crew that the patient was located on the roof of their residence and unable to move on their own. The ambulance crew immediately requested additional support from the fire department. Rescue 12, Ladder 22, and Ambulances from station 22 and 32 made the response to support the technical rescue.

The ambulance crew, along with medic 94, immediately made there way to the roof to provide patient care and analysis while fire personnel deployed ground ladders and rigging to prepare to get the patient off the roof. Once the patient was stabilized and “packaged” for the move, rescue teams on the roof and ground coordinated the high angle descent and safely lowered the patient to the ground. Once on the ground, the patient was moved to the stretcher and taken by ambulance to the hospital for further care. A total time from dispatch to transport was 35 minutes with the rescue being completed in under 25 minutes of that window.

Once the ambulance was enroute to the hospital, rescuers carefully removed rigging and equipment as to not damage the property and returned the company to service shortly before noon time. A job well done by the West Grove team!
