This vehicle hit a tree on Old Baltimore Pike, trapping the driver inside. Crews from the West Grove Fire Company, assisted by Medic 94 and Ambulance 23, freed the patient. A full removal of the driver's door, B pillar and rear door were utilized to perform the rescue. This was fourth vehicle rescue call for the WGFC in the past few weeks.

At 1215 hours, Stations 12, 22, 32 and Ambulance 23 were dispatched for an accident with entrapment at 442 West Baltimore Pike. Chester County Dispatch gave a report of one vehicle versusversus a tree, off the roadway, with one person trapped.
Captain 22 arrived on scene with one vehicle off the roadway. Medic 94-1 arrived on scene confirmed the entrapment and began treating the patient. Ambulance 22-1 arrived shortly after with the EMTs, then assisted the Medic with patient care. Ambulance 23-2 also assisted by covering the patient to prevent any debris from hitting the patient.
Rescue 22 arrived on scene; the crew assembled cribbing and hydraulic tools for a rescue operation. The crew began vehicle stabilization with the help from Ambulance 23-2's crew, and then staged equipment for the rescue evolution. Chief 22 arrived and established Baltimore Pike command with Captain 22 assigned operations.
After the vehicle was stabilized, the rear driver's side door was removed to gain access to the "B" pillar. After the "B" pillar was removed, the driver's side door was then pulled away to gain access to the patient. The patient was then extricated and transported by Ambulance 22-1 and Medic 94-1 to Christiana Hospital.
Chief 22 terminated command and units cleared the scene at 1301 hours. Ambulance and Medic cleared the hospital at 1422 hours.
